Hildie Hedgehog invites children around the world to join her hat-drawing contest!
This art contest is a challenge to children, ages 5 through 12, to show off their drawing and coloring skills by drawing a party hat for one of Hildie’s forest friends to wear to her party. In fact, every contestant may draw up to 3 hats! The Prize
The prize for the winners will be to have their hat pictures added to the ‘end pages’ of my book, Hildie’s Hat Party, and their names printed in the ‘credits page’ of the published book.
The Free Gift
Each and every child submitting a drawing will receive a signed illustrator’s print of one of the characters in the book.
For Teachers or Parents: If your child/children are interested in drawing a hat for my book–coming out Spring or Summer, 2018, please read the following guidelines on how to enter their picture in this contest. If you are a child, ask an adult to help you with your submission.
Contest Guidelines
- Draw a party hat for one of Hildie’s forest friends! They are Mother Goose and her goslings, Rocky Raccoon, Savannah Squirrel, Owl, Frog, Mrs. Bunny, Mouse, the Beavers, and Dori Deer.
- Color your drawing with coloring pencils or crayons only—no markers please!
- After coloring your picture, trace the outline with a black, fine-point sharpie pen—neatly.
- Write your name, your school’s name, your city and state at the top of your picture.
- Now, ask Mom, Dad, or another adult to take a close-up photo of your picture with a smart phone or camera.
- Email the photo, with your name, grade, school name, city and state as well as your email information to me, Linda K. Bridges, artist/illustrator, to hildieshatparty@lindakbridges.com (You can use your Mom or Dad’s email or the school email, if permitted.) Be sure to include your mailing address too, if you want me to mail you a free color print of one of Hildie’s forest friends.
All entries for Hildie’s Hat Contest must be received electronically by August 1st, 2018. There are no fees.
Here’s a handy check-list of reminders to help you.
- Submissions must be emailed, using an attachment file or PDF. Your adult helper will know how to do this. (Do not cut and paste into the email body.)
- Double check that you have everything written neatly (check point #4 above)
- Submission of your entry is also a grant of permission to publish your name, your city, and your hat picture (if your picture should be selected as a winner) in the ‘credits’ page in the book and on my website https://www.lindakbridges.com/
